About Us

A story rooted in Rwandan soil.

Juru Coffee is the work of thousands — farmers, agronomists, washers, tasters, exporters — united by one belief: Rwanda deserves to be tasted.

Background

Founded in 2009. Rooted in generations.

Premium Arabica Red Bourbon from Rwanda, built around our two demonstration farms in Kayonza (15 hectares) and Rulindo (9 hectares) and a community of 3,400 local coffee farmers, 1200 in Kayonza and 2200 in Rulindo. We support farmers with quality seedlings and practical coffee-growing knowledge demonstrated on our farms, purchase their cherries, and process them through our coffee washing stations. This integrated approach allows us to build lasting farmer partnerships while delivering traceable, sustainably produced premium quality coffee from Rwanda to the world.

Juru Coffee Ltd was established in 2009 with the planting of a 15-hectare coffee farm and officially registered with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) in 2013. The company is rooted in a long-standing tradition of coffee farming passed down through generations of its members and their families.

The name “Juru” is derived from the location of its first production plant and coffee station, situated in the Juru Cell of Gahini Sector, Kayonza District. In Kinyarwanda, “Juru” translates to sky or heaven — reflecting the high quality and ethereal experience of our coffee.

Founded by Leonard Karasi, Juru Coffee Ltd was created as a sustainable means of providing economic and social support to the community where he was born. This initiative was particularly crucial in the aftermath of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, which had devastating effects on the local economy.

Today Juru operates two stations and two demonstration estates: Kayonza with 15 hectares, working with 1,200 local coffee farmers, and Rulindo with 9 hectares, working with 2,200 local coffee farmers. The land we farm exists to demonstrate to these farmers how to plant and care for coffee.
